He attended Saint Peter’s UNA Primary School in Obe-Nla, Ikosi High School in Lagos, and went on to earn an NCE in Economics and Government (1986), an advanced diploma in Business Administration (2001), a postgraduate certification in Executive Business Management (2009), and an MBA from the University of Liverpool (2013).

Professional Profile:

Professionally, he’s worked as a store officer, assistant head teacher, marketing officer, investment analyst, and merchandise manager. In 1996, he founded the Blue Wall Group of Companies, which spans trading, forex (licensed by the CBN), and travel/logistics services (IATA-licensed).

Leadership Profile:

In 2020, Aiyedatiwa was selected as running mate to Governor Rotimi Akeredolu. They were elected in October 2020, and he was sworn in as Deputy Governor on 24 February 2021 .

When Governor Akeredolu took medical leave in mid-2023 and later passed away on 27 December 2023, Aiyedatiwa first served as acting governor (June–September, and again in December), before officially being sworn in as Governor of Ondo State on 27 December 2023 .

He later contested the 2024 gubernatorial election and won, becoming the seventh democratically elected Governor of Ondo State, officially sworn in to begin his first full four-year term in early 2025 .

Since taking office, Aiyedatiwa has introduced initiatives such as “Our Ease Agenda,” emphasizing agriculture and the blue economy, urban and rural development, education and human capital development, healthcare, infrastructure, energy access, technological and industrial advancement, and tourism development.

ACHIEVEMENTS
Achievements:

1. Public Sector Welfare & Salaries

Cleared January 2017 salary arrears for civil servants.

Paid three months of arrears for staff of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic Owo, backed by an N850 million subvention.

Introduced a monthly N35,000 wage award for public servants and N10,000 for pensioners.

Disbursed over N1.5 billion in gratuities to retirees within three months.

2. Education

Recruited about 2,000 teachers.

Paid WAEC exam fees for public secondary students with N550 million.

Launched free school shuttle buses and boats, rehabilitated many primary schools.

Allocated N1 billion for a new Senate Building at the University of Medical Sciences, and N1.2 billion for completing projects at Olusegun Agagu University of Science & Technology.

3. Infrastructure & Transport

Revived road works: Oda dualisation, Ijoka, Irese/Shagari Flyover, Owo, Igoba, among others.

Launched rural road construction across all senatorial districts.

Rehabilitated 60 km of roads statewide and launched the Light Up Akure initiative.

Rolled out waste management programs like “Operation Keep Ondo Clean” and improved flood mitigation.

4. Employment & Youth Empowerment

Delivered employment letters to 165 ODIRS staff and recruited around 100 health workers, with plans for 600 more.

Trained 618 youths in tech skills, awarded N3 million each to 10 innovative entrepreneurs, and hosted an Entrepreneur Summit.

Launched SME support with grants and loans, plus food and tools for vulnerable groups and farmers.

5. Economic Vision & Investments

Rolled out the OUR EASE agenda (Economic Development, Food Security, etc.) and major projects:

Green Economy-led Diaspora Smart City—a 70-hectare development with modern, eco-friendly infrastructure.

Secured operating license for the Ondo Deep Sea Port, expected to boost the state's maritime capacity.

Partnered with Dangote Group for developing the Olokola Free Trade Zone, enhancing regional economic integration.

Strengthened ties with the diaspora via NiDCOM’s Southwest Annex and collaborated with DAWN Commission and neighboring states.

6. Governance, Security & Legislative Work

Adopted a “slow and steady” governance model—appointing commissioners and urging integrity and accountability.

Proposed a bill for harsher penalties (including death sentence) for kidnappers.

Focused on reforms in Amotekun to secure farmland and improve safety in agricultural areas.

Reduced state domestic debt significantly—from ₦74 billion to ₦12 billion.
